The project's ambition was to develop a mobile personal assistant app that leverages advanced technologies to offer real-time scheduling, task management, and interactive communication. The core challenges included implementing a sophisticated message classification system using OpenAI APIs, integrating with Google Calendar for seamless schedule management, and ensuring reliable app notifications and daily cron jobs for user engagement.

Goals
To build a comprehensive personal assistant application that utilizes React Native for cross-platform mobile development, with a chat interface for user interaction. The app aims to authenticate users via Google OAuth, classify messages into tasks or events, and interact with Google Calendar to manage the user's schedule. Additionally, the project sought to establish app notifications and automated daily summaries/reminders to keep users informed and engaged.
Technology Stack: We used Expo with React Native to create a cross-platform mobile application, ensuring a wide-reaching user experience across both iOS and Android devices. The backend is powered by FastAPI with Python, offering a robust and scalable infrastructure, with data stored in a Supabase PostgreSQL database for efficient data management. Message Classification: To address the challenge of distinguishing between tasks, events, and other messages, we integrated the OpenAI Assistance API.
